The Secret Circle The Divide Chapter 12 Free Essays

Cassie dozed late into the evening the following day, which was not normal for her. Ordinarily she was an ambitious person, regardless of whether she needed to be or not. Be that as it may, she more likely than not required the rest, since she woke up feeling invigorated and with a more clear head than she had the prior night. We will compose a custom paper test on The Secret Circle: The Divide Chapter 12 or on the other hand any comparable subject just for you Request Now Cassie’s contention with Adam had left her inclination confounded and upset the previous evening, yet today was another day. What's more, it was wonderful and radiant, not a cloud in the sky. In the wake of getting wearing her most agreeable pants and most loved blue sweater, Cassie chose to take off for a walk. She wasn’t very prepared at this point to converse with Adam, or anybody truly, yet ideally while she strolled, the words would begin going to her, and she’d get back realizing exactly what to state to make everything right once more. What Cassie required was to all the more likely comprehend her own sentiments. She wasn’t an envious individual, and she didn’t need to be. Be that as it may, she additionally couldn’t overlook what was disturbing her about Adam and Diana. She owed it to them two, and to herself, to be completely forthright. She realized they had a history together that she couldn’t contend with. Cassie tied her tennis shoes firmly and went out the secondary passage. She walked through the labyrinth of her grandmother’s herb garden and over the encompassing section of land of influencing green grass. She ventured over a couple of saturated heaps of stray leaves and along the way of sand and earth that prompted the leaves and along the way of sand and soil that prompted the feign. There she discovered Nick out by the water’s edge. He’d taken his calfskin coat off and hurled it on the ground alongside him. The breeze off the water was blowing through his white T-shirt as though he were flying. It fanned his dull earthy colored hair up from his calm face. Watching Nick when he didn’t have his resistances up resembled catching a mystery. It caused Cassie to feel uncommon to observe it yet in addition somewhat blameworthy. Cassie had needed to be distant from everyone else, except now she didn't need anything more than to be with Nick. Not from a sentimental perspective, obviously. She cherished Adam, however that didn’t mean she and Nick couldn’t be companions. So she went to him, setting herself up the entire path for his dismissal of her organization. Be that as it may, she believed she needed to attempt in any event. Scratch may have been dim and agonizing, he may have been unusual, and most days he could even be called inconsiderate †however there was a strong focus underneath all that, and it was unadulterated, similar to the precious stone ine center to an unpleasant stone. Cassie had seen it, and she was resolved to get through his intense outside to arrive at it once more. She missed his kinship †despite the fact that she realized she was pushing him to be companions when their separation was still so new. â€Å"Hi,† she shouted to him from a couple of steps back, not having any desire to alarm him. He turned gradually, unsurprised to see her, practically like he was anticipating her. â€Å"Hi,† he stated, which was greeting enough for Cassie to go along with him. â€Å"How are you?† Cassie inquired. â€Å"Okay. How are you?† â€Å"Good.† It was clumsy, certainly, however as they continued on through it, they started to gradually sink into their old propensities. Scratch prodded her, professing to be savage, and Cassie moved with his punches, snickering excessively boisterous. She’d needed this for such a long time, she didn’t need to destroy it, yet there was one thing she couldn’t let go. â€Å"Can I ask you something?† she stated, when there was a respite in their discussion. Scratch gestured, his jaw solid. â€Å"You can ask me anything, however it doesn’t mean I’ll answer you.† Cassie smiled. â€Å"Did you come over here wanting to see me?† â€Å"Wow, you’re conceited.† Nick laughed uncontrollably giggling. â€Å"Is that a yes?† Scratch quit chuckling at that point and just grinned. He was so miserly with his full-toothed grin, Cassie had overlooked how lovely and splendid it was the point at which it occurred. Its shortage just made it significantly more important. â€Å"Maybe the idea of you coming over here ambiguously entered my thoughts Nick said. â€Å"I have missed this between us.† Finally. This was the Nick she knew. â€Å"Me too,† Cassie said. â€Å"Now I get the opportunity to ask you something.† Nick flashed his terrible kid smile. â€Å"Is Adam making you insane yet?† â€Å"Nick!† â€Å"Nick!† â€Å"He is. I realize he is. Don’t even attempt to deny it.† â€Å"No comment,† Cassie stated, giggling. Be that as it may, at that point she included, â€Å"I surmise I’m as yet becoming acclimated to his †â€Å" â€Å"Smothering?† â€Å"His goodness,† Cassie admonished. â€Å"Now be nice.† Nick unexpectedly seemed lighter, more joyful. Perhaps all he expected to feel better was to go after Adam. Cassie let her eyes go delicate on the sea. â€Å"I guarantee things will return to normal,† she said. â€Å"For you and me. For all of us.† Be that as it may, the second those words left her lips, foreboding shadows framed overhead, too quick to possibly be characteristic. They were unpropitious billows of the sort you’d find in motion pictures about the end times. Scratch got Cassie’s hand, and they made a couple of mindful strides back, away from the sea. â€Å"What’s happening?† Cassie inquired. â€Å"Is it a tornado? Do you by any chance get those around here?† â€Å"I don’t recognize what this is.† Nick filtered the encompassing territory for a protected asylum. â€Å"We need to leave. Every one of these trees. We need to attempt to rush to your house.† They began running, however they possibly made it a couple of steps when dashes of irate lightning started blazing surrounding them, apparently directly at them. â€Å"Keep running,† Nick shouted. â€Å"And spread your head.† Ice-cold downpour poured down, pelting them like needle-pointed bolts. The sky was totally dark with the exception of the lightning, which, when it flashed, sick uminated the furious breeze in the trees. The boasting sand and litter worked up from the beginning. Cassie strived to keep her eyes shut to the flotsam and jetsam yet in addition sufficiently open to follow Nick’s course of getaway. â€Å"We’ll never make it,† Cassie shouted enthusiastically. â€Å"We should attempt a spell, to stop it.† â€Å"No!† Nick hollered. â€Å"No enchantment. Keep running.† One blaze after the following, the lightning and thunder helped Cassie to remember firecrackers. â€Å"It’s them, isn’t it?† Cassie shouted out. â€Å"The hunters.† Nick quit running for a second, and Cassie likewise quit, breathing vigorously. Nick’s thick neck was beating; his chest was hurling. â€Å"I think so,† he said. â€Å"It could be a stunt to get us to utilize our magic.† At that point a lightning jolt struck a willing objective †one of the numerous elm trees close by. It broke and started from the blow. Cassie protected her eyes with her hand like a visor, viewing the elm shudder and smoke. â€Å"Seems like they may definitely know we’re witches, don’t you think?† Then another tree directly alongside that one was hit, and afterward another, every one closer to Cassie and Nick than the one preceding. At long last, a blazing jolt slammed at the ground directly close to Cassie’s feet. She shouted, and Nick pushed her off the beaten path, protecting her body with his own. Cassie and Nick were both on the ground now, she underneath him. His wide strong body was substantial on hers. â€Å"Are you okay?† he inquired. Water dribbled from his face onto hers. â€Å"Yes,† Cassie said. From underneath him she watched the trees that had been hit surrender to wild orange blazes. It was the most incensed fire Cassie had ever observed, with Bill owing dark smoke ascending from it like a phantom. That could have been me, Cassie contemplated internally. On the off chance that Nick hadn’t tossed her off the beaten path, she would have been dead. It was a sight to see, those once incredible elms obscure and shrivel to debris so smoothly. Their rough earthy colored bark softened at the desire of the warmth, similar to a chocolate bar forgot about in the sun. Whatever the trackers were attempting to demonstrate, they’d demonstrated it. Obviously they were ground-breaking, and they were happy to murder. They weren’t witches, yet this sort of power over the components looked like dark enchantment to Cassie. What sort of witch trackers utilized similar strategies of malice witches? â€Å"They’re so close,† Cassie said. Scratch let a portion of his weight off Cassie’s trembling body underneath him. â€Å"And they’re drawing nearer every minute.† It appeared to Cassie like there was never be a way out. She and Nick could get up and continue running, yet the lightning and thunder would follow all their means until it at long last hit its bull ‘s-eye, hitting them down with a wad of fire that would consume and twist their bones like the weak parts of an old elm tree. Or on the other hand they could lie in that spot on the ground, unmoving, gripping one another and ignoring everything. They could go with it effectively, instead of attempt to battle it. Kicking the bucket next to each other with Nick was better than being shot down from the sky. And afterward as though it had all been a fantasy, the downpour out of nowhere stopped, the lightning halted, and the sky made room for the sun. The day returned, frightfully and wonderfully, the path for the sun. The day returned, frightfully and wonderfully, to the ideal shading photo it had been previously. In the event that the trees next to them hadn’t still been consistently consuming, blurring the air around them with dreary dark smoke, Cassie would have accepted she’d envisioned the entire nightmarish scene. â€Å"I surmise we passed the test,† Nick stated, standing up and getting over his pants. He ran his fingers through his splashing wet hair and afterward offered Cassie his wide hand to push her to her feet. â€Å"How is that?† Cassie asked, taki

The Power of National History Day Projects

The Power of National History Day Projects (0) One of the most important skills students need, especially in today’s society, is how to properly analyze sources while honing in on their critical thinking skills. In many cases, educational headlines and the media seem to focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). However, students will not be able to properly navigate the “real world” without a foundation based on interpretation of information and critical thinking skills….period.   As a history teacher, and I would rather not admit this, but it is almost as if original research and analyzation of historical documents has become a lost art. Today, students can look up information and have an answer within seconds. In some cases, the idea of linking actual documents with actual research gets lost in the shuffle. Best History Contest Ever For the past fourteen years, I have had the luxury of designing my curriculum around a project that involves and benefits every student I teach. This project provides opportunities for not only research and analyzing history, but is also an experience that ties in “real world” application. This project is referred to as National History Day. The National History Day program, established in 1974, has provided students across America the opportunity to bring back the lost art of interpreting, analyzing, and “living” history. Students not only get to personally choose a historical topic that excites them, but they also choose the platform from which their project will be showcased. Categories range from performances, to websites, exhibits, documentaries, and research papers.  By empowering students to make choices and take ownership of their project, students find themselves straying from the age old “boring history lessons” into creating a meaningful lesson with a sense of direction. Reflections Benefits The National History Day (NHD) “experience” is something every student should partake in. Personally, in all of the years I have been in education, I can’t think of a better scenario to bring history alive within my classroom. In the 7th and 8th grade history classroom in Hudson, IA, we mold nearly 80 topics into 80 different thesis statements backed by research. Students really need to put their own spin on their thesis statements. For example, what may start out as a factual statement on Martin Luther King Jr., evolves into an expression of a student’s perspective in relation to the theme. Kids learn to properly locate and interpret primary documents and how to relate that information to an overall theme. The NHD experience has really provided my students with a new outlook on how history impacts their own lives.   As an educator who gets the freedom to implement such a creative process, there are tips to properly navigating it. One of the single most important tips I can give fellow educators regarding this project is to get everyone involved! I get every single student that comes through my classroom into this experience….all students need that one opportunity to shine! In addition, I provide my own packets of information detailing differences between primary and secondary sources, as well as, how to decipher what sources to use. As a parent myself, I really appreciate the presence of the interview process that students undergo when presenting their projects. Students need to address questions asked by judges at each level of competition; that includes the district, regional, state, and national qualifying levels. This process gives many of my students their first ever interview experience. Parents often mention their excitement in seeing their son or daughter evolve through it. Using EasyBib Tools for NHD Without a doubt, one of the most widely used edtech tools that I rely on throughout our project are EasyBib citation tools. In today’s society, it is too easy to skip the important step of citing sources. Whether students access a book that has been inter-library loaned, or visited the Library of Congress’s website, it is essential to properly cite each and every source used within the project. There are also helpful guides to doing citations in MLA, APA, and Chicago styles. The intuitive nature of EasyBib tools makes citing much more accessible and quicker to do. In addition, students can also rest assured that they can save, edit and produce the final bibliography via avenues such as Google Docs or Microsoft Word. With NHD, students are required to not only cite their sources but also to annotate them.  EasyBib citation forms make that process beyond smooth by attaching the annotation with the citation. Everything is located in one spot and can easily be exported through a student’s account. We rely on this application each and every year. Bottom line, EasyBib, a Chegg service, pairs the power of efficiently citing sources with helping students to understand the importance of giving proper credit to all of the sources a student uses within their project!

Where Do the Motives in Characters from “Frankenstein” and...

Where do the motives in characters from â€Å"Frankenstein† and â€Å"One flew over the cuckoos nest† originate and and what role do these motives play in defining the fate of a character? Motivation is a key driving force in most human beings and lies hidden to be discovered behind every action. Authors makes characters interesting to the reader by inviting us to discover these motives, and to trace the events that led to the motivation that inevitably led to the rise or fall of a character. In both novels we are introduced to the concept that similar motives can lead to strikingly different outcomes. This is seen by contrasting the fates and actions of Frankenstein and Clerval, both fueled by the thirst for knowledge, and Mc.Murphy†¦show more content†¦This experience did not necessarily create the motivation to battle authority, which was more likely to have become reinforced through the racism of the white man towards the Chiefs tribe and the demasculation of his father by his mother, however his experience of people not listening to him defined the way he would later battle the combine. This illustrates that childhood not only plays a part in the type of motives characters possess, but also how they carry them to their end. The theme of the importance of childhood in the shape of motivations and future character plans is also evident in both the character of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Victor Frankenstein can trace his interest in knowledge back to finding â€Å"works of Cornelius Agrippa† at a house he is staying at, however the fact that he pursues it with such as passion is rather due to his father telling him to â€Å" not waste your time on this trash† than the accidental act of finding the books themselves. The utterance of these words instills in Victor a motivation to rebel against his fathers wishes, and embrace the philosophers that his father does not approve of. This is seen where he says â€Å" If, instead of this remark my father had taken pains to explain...I would have thrown Agrippa aside,†

Analysis of Alex Pardee’s Artwork Free Essays

What is a leper anyway? In the past, it was simply a disease. When you caught this disease you were isolated. Taken out of society, never to return again. We will write a custom essay sample on Analysis of Alex Pardee’s Artwork or any similar topic only for you Order Now Your life would never be the same again. As time passed this disease obviously died out. Nowadays not many people have leprosy in its serious form. But we do have leprosy of a different sort. This leprosy is even worse than the physical illness. It is something that gets worse over time and will continue to do so unless we as human beings decide to change our actions. Today, those who are different are thought to be lepers. These people should be rejected, shunned. They are unusual, strange; we cannot accept what they believe in. Why is this so? Why have we been brainwashed so thoroughly by the media that we don’t see that being different is something we humans create in our minds. People are â€Å"different† only because we label them to be that way. They are lepers, only because we make them so. What is so bad really about being a leper? Being different? This image addresses these questions. We can see that in the image there are two odd looking creatures who are bleeding onto a hand with a chicken’s head. This chicken’s head is dripping in blood while there is a small bar of soap at its feet. The only thing in colour is the blood which signifies that it symbolises something important. And so he bathed in the blood of the lepers. By this phrase we understand that the creature in the middle is the object which is â€Å"bathing in the blood†. Again, why would anyone want to bathe in the blood of leper? Well why not? In this case the two odd looking creatures would be the lepers. If the lepers in this image represent people who are different, then it could also mean that these people are so different that they could be considered to be a subculture of some sort. It is understandable to believe that some subcultures are actually desirable to some people. This obviously depends on the person’s personal taste. They may want to be involved in the subcultures of nerds, jocks, emo’s, scene kids, goths, etc etc. The leper character may not even be focusing on a particular sub culture. They can also represent the chameleons of society, changing themselves to appeal to people. Again, this depends on your perspective. The leper character only represents a chameleon of society if you choose to believe that it does so to persuade you to join the subculture that it is portraying itself to be. Why would people choose to believe this? Only to feel accepted. They may be so rejected that all they want and need is a feeling of belonging even if it is found a way which is not entirely truthful or right. Rather, it is an illusion. So do we humans warp what is there to suit our cases and make certain situations more pleasurable to us? Definitely. This leads us to the importance of the blood in the image. The blood can be viewed as the initiation process. The blood, which is the only coloured thing in the image symbolises this initiation process. This is the only part of the image in colour, because this process is the most important part of belonging to a group of people or a subculture. Bathing in the blood would be catching the leper’s disease, or otherwise, finally being a part of the lepers. The feeling of belonging settles in for the first time. Now that the person is a part of the lepers, can they really think of themselves as lepers? They are now able to understand and empathise with the subculture they have joined so would it actually seem so different to them now? No it wouldn’t, further underlining the fact that we only label people as being different, of being social lepers, only because we do not understand them. However if we were a part of what they believe in, i. e. a part of their subculture, then we would no longer think they are so different. Only an outsider to this subculture would consider them to be lepers. Again, we humans label that which is not. We have established what it means to be different and why it is important, but what about the bar of soap at the chicken hand creature’s feet? What would this symbolise? This symbolises the other perspective of this two sided argument of acceptance. The soap represents the cure for leprosy. The means to be cleaned from this disease. In the modern world this soap bar would represent the views of people who believe that removing yourself from a subculture is the true path to acceptance. However, like the size of the soap bar, these people are very few because we all have an innate need to belong to a community, society, club, culture or subculture. In short, we all need to feel like we belong somewhere, no matter how much of an illusion this feeling of belonging is. We desire to be persuaded to believe in something only to feel accepted and wanted by a community. This image drawn by the talented Alex Pardee shows us all these innate human desires in a way which persuades us to believe that we do have them. Of course this is achieved by this talented artist by using a great many visual techniques. First of all the area of the image with the highest salience is the blood because like we established, the blood – which represents the initiation process – is one of the most important aspects of the process of belonging. The importance of this transition stage is further underlined by the fact that the rest of the image is black and white hand sketches making the blood also the area with the highest colour modality. When we look further into the image and analyse the finer details we notice that the background is non-contextualised, in fact, it is completely white. This helps us to not stray from the main message that the image is trying to give. It keeps us focused on the foreground while also giving extra information on what might be going on in the image. This information is given to us in the text written at the top. The foreground in question is the chicken hand with the blood being poured onto it. It is not in fact the text. This is because the image is in the centre and the gushing blood attracts us to the image at hand. This image would also be the focal point again highlighting the important message being given by the image. The perspective that we see the image also gives us a whole new view on the scene. We see the main subject (the chicken hand) in the frontal view. Seeing as the subject is the most important part of the image, it is safe to say that the whole image is viewed in the frontal perspective. However, it is important to note that we see the â€Å"lepers† side on. This suggests to us that we are not part of the lepers, that we are detached from them, that in fact they are different from us. The gaze of the subject is demanding. It is looking straight at the audience as if it wants to get its message across. Its message that it wants to be involved and included. The lepers on the other hand do not even have eyes. This suggests that they have nothing they want to communicate to people and are unaffected by what people think of them. The image in general is in a low modality because it is already trying to communicate a complicated message. By keeping it in simple sketches, the artist is making it easier for the audience to understand the message. The artist uses all of these visual techniques with one purpose in mind: to get the message across. The message that being different is not a negative thing. It is simply a means of feeling like you belong. Being a leper does not mean everything is lost. There will be a deformity, but one ought to bear in mind that they still have their God-given potentials in them. It is the duty of society, to give a helping hand, in order for these â€Å"lepers† to exhibit what they have in them to world. You see, it’s not them. It’s you. It should be legalized because it would be valuable agricultural ropes for the United State. They are using our tax money to arrest the drug dealers. So there is nothing wrong with making marijuana legal because people already smoke and sale it on are streets the worst thing that happens to them is that they go to Jail for 24 or 48 hours and then they are right back out on are streets doing the same thing they were doing to get them there in the first place. We are not talking about making a hard drug substance legal like cocaine, heroin, meet, does are the drugs that really shouldnt be on are street because people become addicted to hem, also breaks up homes, even kill people, makes people go crazy. These are things that marijuana does not do to the people that smoke it, it makes them very claim and put them in a very happy place or make them think that they are very hungry. A lot of individuals can be against marijuana becoming legal because it often leads people to harder drugs. Al so it can be at a very high risk to fall into the hands of children. If a lot of people seen movies dealing with marijuana it is understandable why they might think it shouldnt be legal because movies give off a ad image of marijuana. The law enforcement Jobs would be a lot easier if marijuana was legal because they would have a lot more time to deal with life threatening situations. Making marijuana legal would really save the United Sates a lot of money as mention in the previous page about how we have to pay to arrest them we also have to pay for their car to be impounded if they was caught in a car with the marijuana on them plus getting it towed to the police station then we pay for them to get there things make if they stay in Jail a good amount of time.Lets say that they did 3 years in Jail for a marijuana charge and it was a big case so the person had a bond or stayed in Jail till their trial k so now the person family has the bond many and if that person beat the case then the police have to give that person back their money. Instead of makin g the Jobs a little easier on them and making marijuana legal and save a lot more money so that we can deal with street problems, even schools.Just take the time and sit back and pay attention to the problems around your community and the streets in your community. If the United States would make the marijuana legal we wouldnt have all these problems. A lot of people might say that marijuana is the reason that the communities are so bad and they are part right marijuana but the truth is gangs and violence are the main problems not marijuana. If marijuana was legal gangs wouldnt have to fight or kill each other they wouldnt even have to carry a gun or weapon because it wouldnt a purpose to do so. Marijuana was not such a big deal the police and FBI would be able to focus on gun violence, gang lenience, I even think that there would be a lot more time to focus on murder cases that have been unsolved for years because at some point in time those victims family need closure and Justice so that they could move forward with their life without thinking is this the person who killed that person.Marijuana being legal plays such a big part in the society today because a lot of people are becoming ill and some of them have a doctors order to smoke marijuana but are afraid to go out and buy it because they know if the police caught them with it on them they could be facing errors Jail time depending on how much they have on them. Some people might say that it shouldnt be legal because it can give the person smoking it can experience a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes and dry mouth and throat it is also said that this drug can effect and impair the smokers memory.I dont smoke but the people that I know that do smoke marijuana dont have none of these problems with smoking they are the same person before they elite the marijuana. Most of the police officers and FBI agents smoke marijuana so some of them would not care if it was gal or illegal because they can get their hands on it because it is always their word over a citizens and no ones going to tell on a police who supposed to keep them safe.

California Architecture for the Casual Traveler

California Architecture for the Casual Traveler California and the long Pacific coast of the Western United States is a territory of changing landscapes and wild diversity- in both lifestyles and architectural styles. California is a land of fire and rain and of tsunamis and drought.  Although from north to south its climate changes dramatically, California has a constant element that affects all building codes- the San Andreas Fault. In the links and resources on this page, you will find simple adobe homes of early Spanish colonists, glitzy homes of Hollywood movie stars, groundbreaking modernist architecture, playful amusement park buildings, wacky googie structures, historic bridges and stadia, and many other interesting and unusual building types. People, Groups, and their Leaders Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

People, Groups, and their Leaders - Essay Example Following Lamberton and Minor-Evans (2009, p. 179), group dynamics is the important aspect of development in every organization as it improves growth and productivity issues. Multi-skilling and task rotation can vary according to individual preferences and their current level of competence, allowing group members to find suitable niches. Perceptual barriers mean that all people see the world differently. In order to understand each other, employees should pay a special attention to individual differences and different communication strategies. Perceptual barriers lead to poor performance and lack of cooperation between employees and departments. In order to rely on internal flexibility to deal with personnel fluctuations due to absences or changing output requirements, adequate personnel resources and sufficient time for planning are needed in addition to a certain degree of multiskilling of group members. Then the group will be able to balance the variances on its own. Daft (2006, p. 81) admits that human relations aim to create trust and credibility among employees and motivate them. In this case, individualists view their team as an entity in and of itself rather than one that is connected to the external context and are therefore even less apt to use external sources of information to make corrections in their behavior and improve their performance. Particularly in individualistic cultures, team-based organizations need to have systems that help teams set realistic expectations. Similar ideas are explained by Topping (2002, p. 78) and Smith (1982, p. 51) who admit that positive human relations allow employees to stay motivated while at the same time remaining open to learning from feedback and mistakes. Doing so often requires extending team members' task skills. Task skills and effective performance is impossible without effective communication and positive climate. (Segriovanni and Glickman 2006, p. 52). Communication Pitfalls and Strategies for Success Segriovanni and Glickman (2006, p. 88) state that positive and friendly human relations can encourage sharing practices within and between organizations, observe and adapt to organizational environmental trends, and maintain awareness of cultural convergence. Elton Mayo underlines that HR professionals who can change their assumptions and are adept at modifying basic HR practices will be better poised to face future trends in the use of teams that are just on the horizon (Segriovanni and Glickman 200, p. 55). The effective communication is a critical tool for increasing employees' awareness of the value of their contribution to the organization's success and for creating a dialogue with their managers that can enhance the contributions that employees can make. Indeed, change and organizational transformation are unlikely to occur without new values being introduced into the performance management system. Dr. Irving Janis introduced such term as "groupthink". It means

Research Methods for Business Proposal Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Methods for Business - Research Proposal Example There are three different organizations and types of trade unions, namely industrial unionism, general unionism, and craft unionism. Craft Unionism refers to a trade union that seeks to protect a particular group of skilled works. General Unionism on the other hand refers to an organization of trade unions that comprise of a variety of skilled workers (Somers, 2013). Industry Unionism on the other hand comprises of all workers within a particular industry, joined together in one organization. To successfully carry out their mission and objectives, Trade Unions have a constitution that governs the conduct of their leaders, and the actions of its members. This research proposal identifies the manner in which the researcher will gather information and carry out a research on the importance of trade unions and non-union employee representation bodies. Most employers do not encourage their employees to join trade unions. This is because trade unions are always accused of creating a negative relationship between employees and their employers. However trade unions play an important role in protecting the interests and welfare of employees. On this note, this research takes the position that; Non-Union Representation bodies and Trade Unions play an important role in improving the working conditions of its members. In supporting this thesis, this research will answer the following six questions; Trade Unionism is an example of an organized movement that began during the 19th century in the United States, Great Britain, and continental Europe. In most of these countries of the world, Trade Unionism is used to define the term labor movement. During the 18th century, a number of small associations began to appear in Britain, however, most of these organizations were sporadic, and did not last for a period of time. This is because these small associations of workers got resentment

A Drunk Bus Driver And A Bad A :: essays research papers

Sometimes, even from the most unsuspecting people wonderful and profound messages can originate. This is the story of one such incident when much could be learned from a person like that. On the way to school one day, this kid named Patrick went around telling everyone that he had some beer in his lunch box. Now in the 9th grade, this topic of conversation is new and exciting. He was the center of attention, and was enjoying it immensely. We all knew he didn’t have any in there, but it was still fun to talk like he did. In all the commotion we failed to realize that the bus had come to a stop on the side of the road. We finally realized what was happening, and as the bus driver made her way through the aisle, you could see kids shoving paper balls in their bags, and sitting on batteries and rocks, which they were throwing out the window. The bus was unusually silent as the bus driver, Bertha we called her, waded her way through the narrow seats. Kids visibly squished as close as possible to the windows, some in an attempt to hide something, others just out of fear that the may inadvertently come into contact with the beast coming through. Bertha was 7 feet tall, and appeared to be one of those ex-weight lifters, that had been on steroids for most of their adult life. Her neck was bigger than that of football players, and her arms resembled those of the body builders sometimes on ESPN. Her gut brought thoughts of the worlds strongest man competition to mind. She was big, and no one, not even Superman, or Batman could get away with messing with her. To us she might as well have been dressed in some military uniform, carrying a leather riding-crop. The fear kept us in line most of the time. She strode right up to Patrick, and halted just short of him. Not a word was exchanged for a full minute, the two just looked at each other, a battle of wits. Patrick was the first to speak. "Waddaya want?" he said with a sneer. "What’s in the box Patrick?" she thundered, as if the voice of God. "None of your business!" He retorted. He was "dead", what was going wrong in his head, she had at least two feet on him, and her arms could crush him like a worm in pliers.

Payroll Accounting Cycle Essay

The Payroll Accounting Cycle or Payroll Cycle is basically a process for recording time and attendance and converting that data into payroll calculations and payroll disbursements (Robertson, 2003). This cycle covers all activities related to payroll from hiring and firing to pay distribution. The payroll cycle has four basic stages; recruitment, which covers the identification of vacant positions, advertising for the vacancies, and selection of a candidate for hire, time and attendance, which is a record of all the work hours of the employees, salary distribution, which involves the depositing of paychecks into the employees account, and unfunded liability, which determines the unfunded annual leave and separation pay (Payroll Cycle, 2005). The most important internal control process in the Payroll Accounting Cycle is the division of duties (Bierstaker, 1997). Under this control process, the main tasks should be handled by different people.  This means that processes such as the hiring and firing of personnel and the management of labor relations, the supervision approval of work time, the preparation and timekeeping of payroll, the payroll check preparation and related payroll reports as well as the payroll distribution and actual custody of checks and its subsequent distribution to employees, should all be handled by five separate auditors to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Payroll Cycle (Robertson, 2003). Another specific internal control in the Payroll Cycle is by implementing authorization requirements. This basically acts as a checks and balance feature in the Payroll Accounting Cycle (Bierstaker, 1997). In this control process, the pay base data, which is the data on which pay is based including factors such as hours, piece rate volume, and incentives, and personnel hiring and firing decisions, should all be initially approved by a supervisor or an independent department (Robertson, 2003). Providing that all these controls are implemented properly, there should be no relative weaknesses in the Payroll Cycle. There are probabilities however that the internal control systems will fail to detect material misstatements. The methods that can be used to identify the strengths and weaknesses in the Payroll Accounting Cycle of a business involve careful auditing, risk assessment and control risk assessment (Bierstaker, 1997). In conducting control risk assessments it should always be remembered that if the control risk is assessed very low, substantive audit procedures can be limited in cost-saving ways. If it is assessed very high, substantive procedures will need to be designed to lower the risk of failing to detect material misstatement in the account balances (Robertson, 2003). There is no perfect Payroll Accounting Cycle and control measures should always be implemented and audited periodically.

Definition and Examples of Linguistic Americanization

In linguistics, Americanization is the influence of the distinctive lexical and grammatical forms of American English on other varieties of the English language. Also called linguistic Americanization. As Leech and Smith* observe below, If the term Americanization is taken to imply direct influence of AmE on BrE, it should be treated with caution (2009).See Examples and Observations below. Examples and Observations Globalization in the current era is associated, for better or for worse, with Americanization. This is particularly true of its cultural dimension. For it is the United States, as the worlds hyper-power, that has the economic, military, and political power to projects its culture and values globally. Yet, as many commentators have noted, Americans appear parochial and unworldly, hardly the cosmopolitan sophisticates needed to proffer a truly global vision. The ambiguity of the United States representing globality is perhaps no more apparent than in the projection of its language globally. On the one hand, Americans are particularly notorious for their linguistic insularity, rarely exhibiting the foreign language proficiency so common elsewhere in the world. Yet, as well known, the American language, English, is a global import, inherited from an earlier global power, England. Hence American ownership of global English is more tenuous than its ownership of other global cultural icons, such as McDonalds or Disney.(Selma K. Sonntag, The Local Politics of Global English: Case Studies in Linguistic Globalization. Lexington Books, 2003)Grammatical and Lexical ChangesThe evidence provided by the Brown family of corpora--especially the comparison between the British corpora (1961, 1991) and the American corpora (1961, 1992)--often shows AmE to be in the lead or to show a more extreme tendency, and BrE to be following in its wake. Thus, must, in our data, has declined more in AmE than in BrE, and has become much rarer than have to and (have) got to in AmE conversational speech. Users of British English are familiar with lexical changes due to American influence, such as increasing use of movie(s) and guy(s), but grammatical changes from the same source are less noticeable. . . . [A] finding that AmE is ahead of BrE in a given frequency change does not necessarily imply direct transatlantic influence--it could simply be an ongoing change in both varieties where AmE is mor e advanced. If the term Americanization is taken to imply direct influence of AmE on BrE, it should be treated with caution.(*Geoffrey Leech and Nicholas Smith, Change and Constancy in Linguistic Change: How Grammatical Usage in Written English Evolved in the Period 1931-1991. Corpus Linguistics: Refinements and Reassessments, ed. by Antoinette Renouf and Andrew Kehoe. Rodopi, 2009)Be going to[B]e going to was more than twice as frequent in the American corpus as in the Australian or British corpora, suggesting that Americanization may be a factor in its growing popularity. That colloquialization may be another relevant factor is suggested by the finding that be going to is greatly preferred in speech over writing (by a ratio of 9.9:1), further confirmation for the applicability of this suggestion to AmE and BrE being provided by Leechs (2003) finding that between 1961 and 1991/2 be going to enjoyed a strong increase in popularity in American writing (51.6%) and in British writing ( 18.5%).(Peter Collins, The English Modals and Semi-Modals: Regional and Stylistic Variation. The Dynamics of Linguistic Variation: Corpus Evidence on English Past and Present, ed. by Terttu Nevalainen. John Benjamins, 2008)The Americanization of EuropeBecause of the advent of linguistic Americanization, . . . one can no longer claim that Europes lingua franca is unequivocally a British commodity. English is emerging in Europe, not only as a universal language, but also as a potential norm-generating variety. . . .Basically, what we have is a traditional basis for ELT [English Language Teaching], one centered in BrE, on the teacher as model, on British and American social studies, and on the goal of mimicking the idealized native speaker, evolving into a platform for ELT which constitutes a radical departure from such beliefs and practices. Instead, linguistic Americanization, the mixing of BrE and AmE which suggests a kind of mid-Atlantic accent and a rich blend of lexical usage, th e idea of a variety of Euro-English, the use of postcolonial texts in cultural studies modules, and the desire to develop cross-cultural communicative skills, is on the upswing, while BrE, prescriptivism, and traditionalist positioning are declining.(Marko Modiano, EIL, Native-Speakerism and the Failure of European ELT. English as an International Language: Perspectives and Pedagogical Issues, ed. by Farzad Sharifian. Multilingual Matters, 2009)Yiddish and American English: A Two-Way ProcessThroughout Yekl [1896] and his early stories, [Abraham] Cahan translates the Yiddish of characters into correct (albeit ornate) English while leaving incorporated English words in their misspelled, italicized forms: feller (fellow), for example, or preticly (perhaps particular). Speech thus represents the cultural intermixture arising from contact between the immigrant and American society, an intermixture captured in remarkably hybrid sentences--Dont you always say you like to dansh with me becu sh I am a good dansher? (Yekl, 41)--and even in individual words like oyshgreen: A verb coined from the Yiddish oys, out, and the English green, and signifying to cease being green (95n).This narrative technique also represents a reversal of perspective, whereby English becomes the contaminating element within another language. The Americanization of Yiddish is given from a Yiddish perspective. English words are thrown back--rulesh (rules), deshepoitn (disappoint), saresfied (satisfied)--transformed and defamiliarized by their inclusion in another linguistic system. Just as Yiddish becomes Americanized in Yekl, American English becomes Yiddishized: transformative linguistic contact is shown as a two-way process.(Gavin Roger Jones, Strange Talk: The Politics of Dialect Literature in Gilded Age America. University of California Press, 1999) Alternate Spellings: Americanisation

Need a value for a fundamental physical constant? Typically, these values are learned only in the short term as you are introduced to them and forgotten as soon as the test or task is finished. Project Management Tool Of Choice For Businesses Essay

Introduction Introductory Overview Project management is a critical process in organization, as it entails planning and implementing projects in line with the available time, human resource and financial resources. Successful project management is based on the available systems available. The automation of the project management has become the norm, whereby project managers use tailored software and applications to design, plan and implement projects, along with appropriate control and regulation. For a long time, the waterfall project management has been the project management tool of choice for businesses (Cervone, 2011). Organizations using the waterfall project management toll realize great success, including proper scheduling and completion. However, despite the benefits and returns arising from the use of the waterfall project management tool, recent developments and creation of newer, more efficient and reliable project management systems has rendered the waterfall system obsolete. As a result, organizations th at still use the waterfall system may not be as competitive as other that use the new technologies, such as the agile project management tool. Statement of Research Problem The current situation, especially in software development projects, is such that the agile model has found applications. However, there are confusions as to whether the agile project management model is any different from the traditional approaches. The story follows Jacob Jankowski who was an old man living in a nursing home, as he looks back about a time that defined his life. In the 1930’s, 23-year-old Jacob’s life changed drastically. One minute he was finishing his Veterinarian degree at Cornell and planning to follow his father in the family business. We will write a custom essay sample on Water for Elephants or any similar topic only for you Order Now The next his parents passed away in a car wreck, turning his world upside down. Jacob walked out of his final exams and hopped town, climbing on the first train he could. He quickly found out that it was no ordinary train. It belonged to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, a travelling circus. With no financial prospects and no place to go, Jacob landed a job as the show’s veterinarian. Travelling with the circus had its ups and downs. He had a place to stay, food to eat and animals to look after. But his sleeping quarters were with the horses and a cranky clown, and money was never guaranteed. Jacob’s superior, August, seemed like a nice guy. But his true colors came out when times got tough. And worst of all, Jacob fell in love with the beautiful performer Marlena, who just happened to be August’s wife. Number of Pages: 325 Setting and Time Era of Novel: Story takes place in a traveling circus and is in the 1930’s during the Great Depression. Character #1 Name: Jacob Jankowski Role in the Novel: Jacob is the narrator through the whole story who talks about his life in a circus. Description: In Water for Elephants there are two parts to Jacob Jankowski, one when he is older and the other when he is younger. The older Jacob Jankowski, 90 or 93 years old, relates his experiences with the ‘Benzini Brothers Circus’, back in 1931, to Charlie, a present day Circus manager. The younger Jacob is a 23-year-old young man who must leaves his studies, as a Cornell University veterinary student, after losing both of his parents in a car accident. Out of desperation and grief over his loss he jumps onto a train that happens to house the ‘Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth’, thus beginning his involvement with the circus. After his involvement in the circus Jacob starts to fall in love with Marlena who is married to the circus head animal trainer, August. Character #2 Name: Marlena Rosenbluth Role in the Novel: Marlena is married to August who is the head animal trainer for the ‘Benzini Brothers Circus’ and is also the star performer in the circus shows. Description: Marlena is the star performer of the Benzini Brothers circus. She married August Rosenbluth, against her parents’ wishes, and ran off with him to join the circus. Marlena endures her husband’s unusual behavior, which is not always the most pleasing in any way but eventually finds comfort with Jacob after they form a bond with Rosie the circus’ new elephant. Character #3 Name: August Rosenbluth Description: August is Marlena’s husband and the head animal trainer. He is alternately charming and brutal, both to the humans and animals aboard the Benzini Brothers train. Later in the book, it is explained that he is a paranoid schizophrenic. Themes and motifs: The book, Water for Elephants, has a symbolic study of human need for love and acceptance. The primary symbols are revealed through unique characters that struggle to feed deep internal desires. Rosie, the elephant, is a big and powerful symbol. More than just being a performing animal, Rosie reflects the desperation of so many Americans during the Great depression. Being in the hands of August, Rosie lives a passionless life. When she reaches for more, drinking the sweet circus lemonade that she craves rather than the water that she requires for sustenance, she is beaten into submission. August’s cruel message is clear that the circus is no place for independent passions. Symbols: Water – A symbol of purification, which is portrayed many times. Before Jacob jumps on the train the book states: When I first submerged my feet into frigid water, they hurt so badly I yanked them out again. I persisted, dunking them for longer and longer periods, until the cold finally blistered. † ?Train tracks – Are a symbol of choosing one’s direction in life. For instance, the book states: â€Å"This is so odd†¦ I’m running beside a moving train in the middle of nowhere†. Their Society and Culture: In Water for Elephants, the society and culture is pretty much exactly how it was in the 30’s. Because it was the time of the Great Depression, people did everything they could to make their lives happy. Book Review: I personally loved everything about this book! Other readers may find themselves churning through this book at a quick pace, eager to see what lies ahead, and then slowing down as they realize the book is coming to and end. Or at least that’s what I was doing. Water for Elephants is a book that can be read over and over again, recommended and handed off between friends; it begs to be discussed and mulled over. With lines of startling beauty, haunting and graphic scenes and finely drawn characters that dance off the page, readers can dip in and out of the novel, immersing themselves in Jacob’s memories. The book is a beautifully written and extensively researched story, and is often surprising and funny. I highly recommend Water for Elephants if you’re looking for an enchanting story with adventures that place the reader alongside Jacob and his wild transfer into adulthood. Definitely a must read! Summary of the Novel: Water for Elephants, written by Sara Gruen, tells the story of a man named Jacob Jankowski, who leaves his life as a Cornell University veterinary student after losing both his parents in a car accident, and jumps onto a train that happens to house the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. After a short confrontation with Blackie, a bouncer that stops stowaways, and Camel, a limp old worker, promising him a job and an audience with Uncle, the ringmaster, Jacob decides to stay aboard the train. Since his parents have died in an automobile accident, and he has not a home to call his own, he decides to remain with the circus. Jacob is employed as the show’s veterinarian and he faces a number of challenges in dealing with the head trainer, August, while also learning how to function in the hierarchy of the circus and falling in love with August’s wife, Marlena. Jacob Jankowski, a ninety year-old man who lives in a nursing home, tells the story as a series of memories. As the memories begin, Jacob Jankowski is twenty-three years old and preparing for his final exams as a Cornell University veterinary student when he receives the news that his parents were killed in a car accident. Jacob’s father was a veterinarian and Jacob had planned to join his practice. When Jacob learns that his father was deeply in debt because he had been treating animals for free as well as mortgaging the family home to provide Jacob an Ivy League education, he has a breakdown and leaves school just short of graduation. In the dark of night, he jumps on a train only to learn it is a circus train. When the owner of the circus, Uncle Al, learns of his training as a vet, he is hired to care for the circus animals. The head trainer, August, is a brutal man who abuses the animals in his care as well as the people around him. Alternately, he can be utterly charming. Jacob develops a guarded relationship with August and his wife, Marlena, with whom Jacob falls in love. August is suspicious of their relationship and beats Marlena and Jacob. Marlena subsequently leaves August, which is the precipitating event leading to the ultimate demise of the Benzini Brothers circus. As the story climaxes, several circus workers who were red lighted off the train come back and release the animals causing a stampede during the performance. In the ensuing panic, August is killed. As a result of this incident, which occurred during a circus performance, the circus is shut down. Marlena and Jacob leave, along with several circus animals, and begin their life together. Reflections for Listening and Communication- myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theReflections for Listening and Verbal Communication. Answer: An example of my use of Interpersonal skills with listening and verbal communication includes a debate between friends where I had to listen to the thoughts of my peers before I could keep my points and convince them effectively that my stand on the subject was more positive. I used my reading skills to develop an academic document in the last assignment that I wrote. I read a lot of existing researchers on the subject that I was writing on. I exert some pressure on summarizing certain texts before I can use that information and ensure that I paraphrase a particular information rather than using as it is. My reading skills have always helped me in analysing existing researches in the best manner. Teamwork skills include the need for ensuring that the participation and contribution of every team member is acknowledged during a presentation. It also entails the need for giving an opportunity to every team member to present their contributions and thoughts on a given subject. I can recall the low confidence of one of my team members in giving the presentation on his parts. Hence, I used my interpersonal skills, to understand his apprehension and convinced him to give it a try at least once to overcome his nervousness and fear of public speaking. I used my team work skills of uplifting the spirits of the team and getting them to participate in a team presentation in class. An example of an assessment where I had to choose between my social relationships and professionalism. It includes the demand of information on one of my clients by my friend. Although my friend and his family would benefit largely from the information I could give and the company would not have suffered in any manner, I would not mix my social and professional life at all. I would explain the situation to my friend and tell him exactly how I feel. The task helped me in understanding my morals better. It assisted me in understanding how important it is to follow ethics otherwise all friends tend to take you for granted every now and then. It is best to put a stop to the sharing of professional information and lay boundaries in the beginning itself. The skills that I learnt from different cultures was the ability to respect other cultures, understand the perspectives of others and the adaptability to be able to become sensitive towards the strong feeling of others in a group. Cultural diversity can be seen clearly in every part of the world. It is an excellent way to become a more rational individual and using the same to empower oneself with better communication skills that can eventually help the society and the peers both. I used ICT technologies by researching on the subject and ensuring that I understand every topic with depth before discussing it in detail. An example is the marketing topic that falls under the category of Commerce and Business Administration. The two examples of communication and collaboration technologies that were learnt include Mobility and Virtual Collaboration. These would help the corporates to give a new direction to innovation, offer a competitive edge to companies and assist them in cutting down costs to a large extent. The two major things that I liked about the Unit was the importance of understanding and integration of Cultural Diversity in the day to day life of individuals and the ability to understand the ethical code of conduct in varied scenarios. I strongly believe that this knowledge would help me in becoming a better individual personally and professionally. These factors have also made me a more open-minded person and stronger individual who understands the meaning of ethics and respects people. The two suggested improvements for the Unit could be the integration of processes or step by step introductions of how a person can improve the aspects that he/she lacks. Another improvement could be the addition of certain examples of existing leaders who have used the varied skills to become a better person. Relating a subject with real life stories always adds a motivational aspect to the discussion in every unit.

Report On With Malice Toward None By Stephen B.Oates Published By Ment

Report on "With Malice Toward None" by Stephen B.Oates Published by Mentor Books written (ripped off) by Adam Klosowicz :) 551-77-7284 Oct 15, 1996 About the Author -------------- Stephen B. Oates is a professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the author of eight other books, including The Fires of Jubilee and To Purge This Land with Blood. His task in this biography was to perpetuate Lincoln as he was in the days he lived. His purpose of this biography was to bring the past into the present for us and his students. The Life of Abraham Lincoln -------------------------- Although other states such as Indiana lay claim to his birth, most sources agree that Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a backwoods cabin in Hodgeville, Kentucky. In an interview during his campaign for the presidency in 1860 Lincoln described his adolescence as "the short and simple annals of the poor." (p 30). His father Thomas was a farmer who married Nancy Hanks, his mother, in 1806. Lincoln had one sister, Sarah, who was born in 1807. The Lincoln family was more financially comfortable than most despite the common historical picture of complete poverty. They moved to Indiana because of the shaky system of land titles in Kentucky. Because the Lincoln's arrived in Spencer County at the same time as winter, Thomas only had time to construct a "half-faced camp." Made of logs and boughs, it was enclosed on only three sides with a roaring fire for the fourth. The nearest water supply was a mile away, and the family had to survive on the abundance of wild game in the area. Less than two years after the move to Indiana, Mrs. Lincoln caught a horrible frontier disease known as "milk sick.". Thomas Lincoln returned to Kentucky to find a new wife. On December 2 he married Sarah Bush Johnston, a widow with three children, and took them all back to Indiana. Although there were now eight people living in the small shelter, the Lincoln children, especial ly Abe, adored their new stepmother who played a key role in making sure that Abe at least had some formal education, amounting to a little less than a year in all. To support his family it was necessary that Abe worked for a wage on nearby farms. "He was strong and a great athlete, but Abe preferred to read instead. Although few books were available to a backwoods boy such as himself, anything that he could obtain he would read tenaciously" (p 56). Although his formal education had come to an end, his self-education was just beginning. After a three month flatboat journey along the Ohio and Mississippi, the 19 year old Lincoln returned to Indiana with an enthusiasm for the lifestyles that he had just encountered. Unfortunately, his new-found joy did not last long as his sister Sarah died in childbirth on January 20, 1828. In 1830 the Lincoln family decided to leave Indiana in hopes of a better future in Illinois. It was soon thereafter that Abraham became a leader in the town of Ne w Salem while operating a store and managing a mill. The next step for such an ambitious man was obvious--he entered politics, finishing eighth out of thirteen in a race for the Illinois House of Representatives in August of 1832. Abraham Lincoln was a strong supporter of Whig founder Henry Clay and his "American System." This system that arose from the National Rebublicans of 1824 was in opposition to the powerful Democratic party of President Andrew Jackson. Lincoln agreed with Clay that the government should be a positive force with the purpose of serving the people. Internal improvements were high on both mens' lists, and this stand made the relatively unknown Lincoln popular in rural Illinois from the start. As the Whigs rose in stature throughout the 1830's, so did Lincoln, but not without paying his dues along the way. For eighty days in the spring and early summer of 1832 Lincoln served in the military. On a constant search for Black Hawk, war leader of the Sauk and Fox Indi ans, he never saw any fighting but he did prove to be a

Niazis catering provides a wide range of cuisines for private and corporate events organised in the Eastern end of London. At Niazis Catering we offer bespoke dishes along with our standard menu giving our clients a wider range of choices. Although there are several private companies that provide services in this market making it competitive enough to face challenges from the very start, however the business has a unique selling point (USP) that can help the business outstand in achieving higher sales volumes and help expand the business. The key focus of the business is to attract customers with the finest services and best quality food that can be provided at a very reasonable rate as compared to other businesses in the industry. Our food will be supplied from organic food wholesalers and we shall steer clear of GM food. Niazis Catering is regulated by the regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 for food hygiene and the business also has a license for alcohol, issued by the local authority. After getting a hold of our name in the market which is predicted to be in between a year and two of time, we would more likely condense the target customers and focus on the niche market where we will look forward to get more returns on our investments. MISSION STATEMENT At Niazis we thrive to deliver the best quality food with an exceptional standard of services and a wider range of tasty cuisines to our clients. OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES We provide customers to choose from five different cuisines which is the standard offering that include deserts and drinks, nevertheless the menu can be customized according to the clients requirements. The business provides meals, salads or appetizers, deserts and drinks alcoholic/non-alcoholic depending on the type of event being organized. In the initial stages of the business we aim to provide services for family gatherings, birthday parties, and corporate functions. The part that gets interested is when we get to arrange food for over 30 persons, we allow the customers to personalise the menu from three different types of cuisines. Which makes it really interesting for the guests giving them a chance to have a wider range to eat from just like in buffet restaurants. Our catering company also provides vegetarian food made available on requests. Other catering companies do provide different types of colourful salads along with the main courses but lets be honest with a venue full of people enjoying their multicultural food having a bowl/plate full of salad would not be satisfying at all. Therefore, we came up with this idea of adding vegetarian dishes to the menu. We give our customers the privilege to have complete flexibility on deciding how they would like to treat their guests with all the varieties they could possibly think of. MARKET OPPORTUNITY The catering industry has progressively improved in the past five years, after a poor demand level at which businesses had lost interest in investing or growing any further. The annual growth of the market between 2010 and 2015 is 2.2%. After settling down in the market we tend to target mainly customers those who host corporate functions. It is estimated that over 40% of the revenue in this industry is generated from corporate function orders. Corporate events organise product launch meals, conference lunch/dinner Christmas Eve functions and many more. Companies that arrange such functions require a sophisticated environment with the best cuisines available with a higher standard than usual, as a result they wish to pay a greater price for that. One of the biggest advantage
